Picture problem on beIN Sports Receiver
Jeremy, have you have tried using an alternative HDMI Cable and eliminated this as the source of the problem ?
If it is a problem with the HDMI Cable / Connector, when the picture disappears, the error message is generated by the TV and should be "No Signal", or something similar, referring to the signal between the beIN Sports Receiver and the TV. However, should the error message begin with an "E" (E48.... or, E52....for example) - this is an error message generated by the beIN Sports Receiver and refers to a problem with the signal between the Receiver and the Satellite Dish.
I say this because the process of "wiggling" the HDMI Cable / Connector may also "wiggle" the Coax Cable / Connector and if it is loose and the source of the problem (as opposed to the HDMI Cable / Connector) it may also make your system behave in the manner that you have described. Check this first, because if it is a signal problem between the beIN Sports Receiver and the Satellite Dish, much of what follows is irrelevant.
Assuming that you have checked the Coax Cable / Connector and eliminated it as the source of the problem, a fault with the HDMI Cable / Connector is not good news at all and you are right to be concerned because eventually and it may not take too long, you will find that "wiggling" the HDMI Cable / Connector on the back of the beIN Sports Receiver, no longer rectifies the problem and that the picture disappears completely.
The beIN Sports Receiver's HDMI Port may be damaged. Check the copper strips inside the Port (top and bottom). You are looking for any missing, damaged, or bent strips. If these look OK, the source of the problem is likely to be one or more of the soldered joints where the HDMI Port connects to the Motherboard. A soldered joint (in the process of failing) may be the cause of the intermittent video signal (the "flicker") and complete loss of the picture as a result of the joint(s) completely detaching. "Wiggling" the HDMI Cable / Connector in the back of the beIN Sports Receiver rectifies the problem, but common sense tells us that this is only going to be a temporary solution.
Jeremy, if there is a problem with the HDMI connection to the Motherboard, fixing it is a job for a specialist and may not be cheap ! If eventually, you do completely lose the picture, a temporary solution is to use the beIN Sports Receiver's RCA (Red, Yellow and White) connectors - the picture is OK, but not as good.
Anyone whose bein Sports Receiver has 'not' got a faulty HDMI connection, there are a number of things that you can do and not do, to minimize the risk of this happening to your beIN Sports Receiver.
When used for extended periods, all satellite TV receivers become warm and sometimes hot, especially when being used in hot countries.
Don't place anything on top of your beIN Sports Receiver, especially another piece of Audio / Video equipment - an Android TV box, for example, no matter how small. Two pieces of powered up equipment, one on top of the other (in use, or not) may generate excessive amounts of heat, especially if one is covering / blocking the air vents of the other.
Don't place your beIN Sports Receiver on top of another piece of Audio / Video equipment and make sure that your beIN Sports Receiver has plenty of space around it and that there is good ventilation.
Don't position and operate your beIN Sports Receiver in an inadequately ventilated, tight space such as a drawer, or cupboard, for example. All types, makes and models of Audio / Video equipment require adequate ventilation to operate properly and safely, for long periods, especially in hot countries.
Don't purposely and repeatedly remove and replace the HDMI Cable / Connector from the beIN Sports Receiver. Regularly swapping HDMI Cables to transfer the signal from one room to another for example, is not a good idea. Eventually, this will cause a problem the same / similar to the one being discussed. A relatively inexpensive HDMI Splitter or Switch, with a short cable to the nearest TV and a longer cable to the distant TV, connects the devices permanently and removes the need to repeatedly disconnect and re-connect the HDMI Cable / Connectors. If you do feel that it is necessary to regularly disconnect the beIN Sports Receiver, do it leaving the HDMI Cable / Connector attached to it (disconnect it at the TV's side).
